Dear Enquirer!
We would like to bring to your attention, what you have to keep in mind when you would like to choose a full-blood kit.
We had a lot of experience and we have met with negative cases, which we write about here. It is worth to be very attentive so that you can buy pure blood kit.
We indicate in advance, that there are a lot of „cat-factories”!
There are that kind of people who call themselves breeders, but do not take into account neither the pureness of the blood-line nor do they keep the one-litter-pro-year, which is determined in the breeding. Many clubs also record in the breeding regulation: max 3 litter in every 2 year.
It also occurs, that they do not consider kits as member of the family, rather as livestock in hutches or in separated area, where they are in minimal contact with the owner, with the family members.
We have been to a „breeder”, where a „half-chartreux” house-cat walked on the court, we thought we could see badly. The so called „breeding” happened in an outroom. The cats were dirty, flead, and they did not have blood tests.
Guideline to a pure blood line cat and to a quality breeder:
• One litter pro year, or 3 litters in 2 years
• Knowledge of the whole pedigree
• Results acknowledged by international associations /FIFE, WCF, CFA/
(but there are more associations.
• Original register / pedigree. The litter has microchip.
• It is advantage to have website, which can tell us a lot about the breeder.
• Blood tests: FELV, FIP, FIV
- Combined vaccination, advantage to have also against. The cat has to be anti-wormed several times.
Dubious signs:
Early litter. The mother-cat hasn’t reached the age required for mating, which is 1-1,5 years.
• Unknown pedigree
• Early delivery of kits. Ideal is 12 weeks.
• Ads in several newspapers, except the Cat magazines.
• Low price
A serious breeder holds to know the new cat owner in advance.
They plan the cat delivery together, and things that are needed to have a cat.
A serious breeder and buyer stay in continuous contact and they take delight in the cat’s growth together. If there occurs a problem, they solve it together.
I hope, we could help the cat-fans with these advices. I recommend everybody to offer up enough time to take a look at more breeding, to have questions, and to check, that the cat is living in a clear, healthy, affectionate environment.
We wish good luck to find the appropriate breed!
